Conversations with a Toddler: The Great Debate

Editor's Note: Let me preface this story with the fact that Friday was PJ Day at Jamie's school ...

So this morning Jamie was up at 2:30 a.m. ready to face the day. Unfortunately, he fell asleep at 5:30 a.m. and I had to wake him an hour or so later to get ready for school. As I was changing for school we had this conversation:

Me: "Today is swim day at school."

Jamie: "Shark?"

Me: "Yes, you can wear your shark shorts (swim shorts)."

Jamie: "No, dis pants." (Pointing to pajama pants I just took off him.)

Me: "No, you have to wear school clothes."

Jamie: "Why?"

Me: "Because you wear pajamas to sleep and school clothes to school."

Jamie: "No, dis pants, Mama."

Me: "No, Baby. You can't wear pajamas to school."

Jamie: (pauses thinking for a second) "But I did, Mama ..."

... Yes, yes he did. Guess who wore pajama pants to school today? Out debated by a toddler!!
