Vacation in Mexico Day 2

(above: This is the pool outside of our bungalow. We shared it with 11 others, but they weren't filled so for the most part it was just us and a few others.)

A week ago I woke up a little after 8:30 a.m. since we had ordered breakfast in bed. It was such a great part of last year’s visit that we had the card filled out and placed on the door early last night even though they’ll pick them up until midnight.
So after getting settled on the porch the doorbell rings and breakfast is set up for us on the small table on the porch.
Mmmm … scrambled eggs, with sausage, toast, orange juice and coffee. But my favorite part was the cream cheese and almond stuffed French toast with a mango sauce (Tommy Gunn … if you could figure out a recipe for this I’d be happy to taste test for you. In fact I have a list of foods that you can create recipes for!)
It was soooo good. After stuffing ourselves to a limit even when didn’t know existed, we changed into bathing suits and waddled over to the pool for some fun in the sun. (Just one of the many times we ignored the “wait and hour after eating before swimming” rule.)
After a little lounging I was ready to join George in the pool just in time to get a fresh Bahama Mama after trying a Mexican Flag shot (I don’t know what’s in it but it was sooo good I had at least one a day while there!)
While playing in the pool, we discovered that the plastic lounge chairs from the beach area would fit perfectly in the shallow end with the water just covering the seat portion so I spent a few hours laying in the sun with the cool water flowing beneath me.
For lunch we tried a little brick oven pizza place, La Cabana, where we shared an order of nachos and then each tried the Mexican Pizza which was basically a taco on a thin pizza crust … OMG! It was so good!
After lunch we headed to swim in the ocean. It was great although I FREAKED out when a school of fish swam past me. In hindsight it was kinda funny, but not so much at that moment!
While out in the water we saw a storm roll in. It was fast, which meant it pasted fast, but it was so BEAUTIFUL to watch. We went to the lobby and had some drinks at the Martini Bar for the half hour it rained, but I did get a few pics of it and will post at the bottom.
Afterwards, we headed back to the room to change and check out the resort’s gym. It was easy to access and they made sure the air conditioning was kicking so it was great.
After I had a nice soak in the Jacuzzi, we got dressed and headed off to an early lunch at La Italia’, the resort’s Italian restaurant.
It was a wonder five-course meal and we shared an excellent bottle of French wine. There was even a sommelier, a wine specialist, at most of the night time restaurants.
Afterwards, we headed back to the Martini Bar (you can tell where our favorite spot is can’t you!?!) and there we met a couple from New York and chatted a while with them as they waited for their table at the Italian restaurant.
We headed back to our room about 10 p.m. and laid out on the porch for a while before heading to bed for the night.
Until tomorrow …

This is a picture of the storm that we watched roll in while on the beach.
