Sharing the good times ... as well as the bad

(Left: Photo of the two of us at his unit's deployment ceremony, Jan. 27, 2005)

Well it has been a tough couple of weeks as we prepare for the inevitable. I knew it would be hard ... just didn't know there would be so much paperwork!

We are up to our ears in paperwork trying to get everything in order for his deployment. We are trying to make sure that I have access to stuff under his name (like the phone and cable) because in most cases they will not let me make a change if his name is on it. On top of that we are trying to spend as much time together as possible, but he is working late nights and I have a ton of work at the newspaper and classes to schedule around. But we make time, especially if there is food involved because they just opened this AMAZING Mexican restaurant in town as we are there maybe twice a week.

On Jan. 27 the Brigade held their deployment ceremony. there were a couple of stories in the local papers. A fellow Fort Polk Guardian staff writer wrote this one, but there is also the Leesville Daily Leader.

I have also been on the hunt for Girl Scouts because George loves the Peanut Butter cookies and I want to get some for care packages. A friend, Angie, was more than happy to just hand the list over to me as she is a little over 7 months pregnant and was not in the mood to go trekking around with her daughter who is quite shy and clams up at every door.

Soon enough life will be calm again, but that will mean he is gone, so I'm not really looking forward to that day! I'll keep you post on how we manage ...
