The Astros did it! After 44 years and nine times in the National League playoffs they have cinched a chance to play in the world Series.
Since the beginning a World Series has never been played in the Lone Star state ... it was a long time coming!
I have been an Astros fan since childhood when my uncle would take my brother and I to the games.
After an record breaking 18-inning game they faced the St. Louis Cardinals looking to go the distance. Astros fans were disappointed after Monday's game when the team entered the ninth inning with a 4-1 lead. The Cards had two outs when a hit by Albert Pujols off Lidge with counted for a three-run homer, turning the Cardinals' two-run deficit into a one-run victory.
Not to let it get to them the Astros faced the ninth inning tonight with a 5-1 lead and a surprising calm, but this fan was on the edge of her seat. But Houston's Jason Lane caught a pop-fly to endthe game and leaving me reeling with excitement.
Next stop ... World Series! I have seen the celebration after the Rockets and Comet's consecutive championships, but for some reason I think it we clinch the title, things are going to get a little crazy! "Call the boss, 'cause we ain't coming into work!" kinda partying.
Look out White Sox, the Astros are coming to town! Saturday at 6:30 p.m., don't miss it!
