Petty Officer 2nd Class Cheryl Leonard and Senior Chief Petty Officer Chris Leonard (right), Naval Reserve Center, renew their oath of service Oct. 13, led by Maj. Lee Porterfield, Fort Polk’s deputy provost marshal. The Leonards were assigned to the Naval Reserve Center in Orange, Texas, which was damaged by Hurricane Rita and temporarily closed. Fort Polk is the nearest military installation that could help. Both expressed gratitude to Fort Polk leaders for their assistance.
Editors note: It was also the anniversary of the two as well as the Navy's birthday.
